Steve Michael, Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Steve Michael has nearly 25 years of legislative and government relations experience. As a former legislative director to a member of Congress and with positions at two agencies within USDA, Steve has a detailed understanding of the policymaking and political process in DC. He has worked in the private sector government relations field for nearly 20 years, specializing in budget and appropriations issues and regulatory matters affecting the food, health care, and medical research industries.

Steve has worked successfully on a broad array of policy issues and has developed expertise in federal funding opportunities, both congressionally directed and competitively sourced, available to universities and for-profit businesses. Steve also worked for a scientific society whose primary interest was advocating for increased funding at NIH, the National Science Foundation, the Veterans Administration, and USDA.

Steve received his JD from the Georgetown University Law Center and is licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
