• Led a Washington-based coalition of biomedical research organizations and food/agriculture groups to gain passage of the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act of 2006 to provide federal protections to medical researchers, farmers, and others.
• Drafted legislation later signed into law that enabled an orphan drug to be marketed over the objections of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
• Successfully stopped all negative initiatives aimed at animal research and animal agriculture during the 2008 Farm Bill.
• Secured amendments to the Child Nutrition Act ensuring a level playing field for clients participating in the federal WIC program.
• Secured authorization for the first-ever livestock risk insurance.
• Secured several tax benefits for clients engaged in biofuels production.
• Obtained funding for projects including developing biodefense countermeasures, a national children's nutrition research center, and epidemiological research.
